HOUNSFIELD — The Hounsfield Town Council at a special meeting Thursday night selected Councilman Richard F. Young to represent the board during upcoming negotiations with the town Highway Department’s union regarding its next contract. The town’s current agreement, made in 2010, expires at the end of the year.

The council also discussed the purchase of a new truck to assist its water districts, as its current truck needs repairs to its engine that would cost more than its projected value. The council passed a motion to begin receiving bids for a replacement truck, with the town expecting to spend approximately $30,000.

The council’s next meeting is scheduled for July 18.
