POTSDAM - With a class of six freshmen that played a significant role for the Clarkson University Womens Basketball team in 2011-12, head coach John Hampton could have settled back and watched the youngsters continue to develop by adding just a few pieces over the next couple of seasons.
However, the third-year head coach brought in another outstanding group for the coming fall, and the Class of 2016 looks to make its own indelible mark on the Golden Knights program in the future.
We are excited about the Class of 2016, as they all possess a lot of potential, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to help the team achieve its goals, coach Hampton remarked. Thats what I like the most about this class.
Below are brief reviews of the five members of the incoming Class of 2016:
Melissa Bogart, guard, engineering major – A three-year member of the Voorheesville, NY high school team, Bogart is a quick, scrappy player that can defend and shoot the 3-pointer, serving as a team leader.
Colleen Daley, forward, physical therapy major – A native of Buffalo, NY, Daley was a four-year member of the Nardin Academy squad, averaging 10 points, seven rebounds and nearly three blocks per game for her entire high school career. She possesses good shooting touch and rebounding ability.
Isabella Esposito, forward, engineering major – A two-year starter from Essex High School in Vermont, Esposito led her team in rebounding and 3-point shooting percentage. Another solid post player, her inside-outside game makes her a difficult match up.
Taylor Glidden, guard, engineering major – An all-state selection in New Hampshire, Gliddens team from Littleton High School won a Division IV state championship last season. A four-year member of the squad, Glidden is a dangerous 3-point shooting threat that needs to be tracked at all times.
Ashley Loggins, forward, chemistry major – A five-year letter winner from Colonie High School near Albany, NY, Loggins team won a sectional championship last year. Over the course of her high school career she averaged a double-double, and adds in solid defense to make her an excellent all-around player.
