James D. Manton, 43, of 24021 Route 12, Apt. 9, was charged by Watertown police early Tuesday at 847 LeRay St. with second-degree criminal contempt.

He is accused of violating the terms of a Lewis County order of protection by being inside the residence of the protected party, Heather M. LaVancha, while she was present about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
