MASSENA — Mrs. Mary M. Rowe, 84, of 72 Westwood Drive, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 8, 2012, at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since July 3, 2012. She had been a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home for the past four years.

Mary was born January 25, 1928 in Ellenburg Center, NY the daughter of the late Patrick and Katie Keegan Malark. She graduated from Ellenburg High School and took courses at the Adirondack School of Commerce in Malone. On August 30, 1958, she married Robert V. Rowe at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church with Rev. Taylor, officiating.

Mary did office work and bookkeeping for many years working for at various businesses including, MetLife Insurance Company, Pellegrino Oil, Augsbury Corporation, and Michelle Audio Corporation. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus and AMVETS Auxiliary. She was an active communicant of St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, sewing, and reading books.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children, Patricia Smith of Baldwinsville; Robert and Cara Rowe of North Tonawanda; her granddaughter, Caitlin M. Smith of Baldwinsville; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Malark of Massena; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by twin daughters, Mary Ellen on January 25, 1970 and Margaret Ann on July 21, 1974; four sisters, Kathleen M. Parrow, Irene G. Malark, Rita Senecal, and Stella Corcoran; seven brothers, Patrick, Edward, Daniel, Donald, Alfred, Maurice, and Douglas Malark.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. The members of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will meet at 3:00 PM for a memorial service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Scott D. Fobare and Rev. Jack L. Downs, celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
