CANTON St. Lawrence University has appointed Gouverneur native Justin D. Sipher vice president for libraries and information technology.
Mr. Sipher, who earned his bachelors and masters degrees at SUNY Potsdam, has been chief technology officer at Skidmore College since 2005. He begins Aug. 27 at SLU, where he will promote integration of information and computing systems for teaching, learning and administration.
Mr. Sipher worked from 1994 to 2005 at SUNY Potsdam, where he was named assistant vice president for information technology.
He serves on the board of NYSERNet.org and the Microsoft Higher Education Advisory Group. He previously was chairman of the SUNY Council of Chief Information Officers and has been active in EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization that promotes the intelligent use of information technology. In 2001, he was named a Frye Leadership Institute fellow.
