CARTHAGE -Sharon LaVancha Briggs, 70, formerly of Carthage, died July 5, 2012 at the Nash Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

She was born on December 10, 1941 in Carthage, New York to Lawrence & Edith A. Gray LaVancha. She was employed as an Apple Inspector for Fowler’s in Sodus, NY. She loved crocheting, puzzles and most of all her grandbabies. She was an active member in the Sodus Fire Department.

She is survived by her Loving Companion of 25 years, Ron Marsteiner, two children; Joe and his wife Rachel Eggleston, and Clifton G. Briggs Jr., her Mother, Edith A. LaVancha and several siblings; Ron LaVancha, Larry LaVancha, Denny LaVancha, Nancy Furkin, Edie Dickinson, Bonnie Madonna, Donna Barber, Jane Stone and Flora Wilson. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Joana, Macie and Madee Eggleston.

She is predeceased by two former husbands, Clifton G. Briggs, Jr. and Joseph F. Eggleston, three children; Sandra Briggs Lucien, Randy Briggs, and Wayne Briggs as well as her father, Lawrence LaVancha.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 AM at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State Street, Carthage. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with The Rev. David Allison, Pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
