LOWVILLE — A town of Pinckney man was charged Saturday by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies in connection with an incident in June in which he allegedly tried to purchase $1,000 in electronics from the Lowville Walmart, Route 12, with someone else’s check.

Deputies charged Mark H. David, 21, of 903 Cronk Road, with four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen merchandise, a Class E felony; three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen merchandise; and one count of second-degree attempted identity theft.

After he tried to make the purchases June 17, deputies said, they discovered that he had four stolen credit cards and that he had signed his name to the unidentified person’s check.

Mr. Davis was taken Saturday to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, where he was processed, and was arraigned in Lowville Village Court. He was sent to Lewis County jail on $1,250 bail.
