Four north country natives, including former NHL player Craig Conroy, will be inducted into the Clarkson Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 20, the school announced Saturday.

Conroy, who is from Potsdam, joins Watertown’s Linda Bondellio and Massena’s Mark Bissonette and Tom Hurley, as well as Barney Adams, Bill Blackwood and benefactor Frank Rotunno in the 2012 induction class, Clarkson’s eighth overall.

Conroy (class of 1995) played for the Clarkson men’s hockey team from 1990-94, compiling 167 career points and finishing as Hobey Baker Award runner-up in 1994. The former All-America, played 16 years in the NHL for four teams, retiring in 2011 with 542 career points.

Bondellio (2003) is Clarkson’s second-leading scorer all-time in women’s basketball with 1,564 points and leads the Golden Knights in career rebounds with 900. She’s also Clarkson’s leader in scoring and rebounding average and free throws made. The former Watertown High standout was a two-time All-American.

Hurley (1966) helped the Knights hockey team to its first ECAC Tournament title in 1966, and was Clarkson’s first Olympian, skating for the U.S. in the Winter Games in Grenoble, France, in 1968. Hurley finished with 104 career points at Clarkson.

Bissonette (1981) is among the Clarkson men’s soccer team’s all-time leading scorers with 95 points (37 goals-21 assists). He was named an All-American in 1980 and won conference MVP honors twice.

Blackwood (1978) is Clarkson’s all-time leading scoring defenseman. The Copper Cliff, Ontario, native finished with 169 career points and was named to ECAC Hockey’s all-decade first team. He led the conference in scoring during the 1976-77 season.

Adams (1962) participated in golf, basketball and soccer for Clarkson, but the Syracuse native is more well-known as the founder of Adams Golf, and inventor of the Tight Lies fairway wood, one of the best-selling golf clubs in history.

Rotunno (1956) was instrumental in the construction of Clarkson’s Cheel Arena and Campus Center. He was a key part of funding for the Fitness Center. A former vice president and president of the Clarkson Alumni Association, he served three terms on the Clarkson Board of Trustees and is a Trustee Emeritus.

Clarkson has inducted 57 members into its Hall, beginning in 1992.
