NORFOLK - The Norfolk Lions Club recently recognized Robert Jones of Potsdam for his tireless efforts as president of the Norfolk Rod & Gun Club.

Mr. Jones has been a long time member of that club and has served repeated terms as club president . In addition to his involvement with the rod & gun club, he has also been a supporter of the Norfolk Lions Club.

It is for those reasons that he was named the as Norfolk Lions most recent recipient of the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award, by the membership of the Norfolk Lions Club. The award is in honor of Uplinger, who was a long time member of Lions of New York State, before advancing to the position of President of Lions Clubs International.

Mr. Uplinger passed away years ago, but his legacy continues with awards made in his honor. Mr. Jones received an appropriate wall plaque and a lapel pin in recognition of his receiving the award.

The presentation to Mr. Jones was made by then Norfolk Lions President Donald Lustyik.
