MASSENA A second GameStop store has opened in Massena.
The Harte Haven Shopping Center location opened Wednesday, according to store manager Renea M. Greiner. The new gaming and entertainment store joins a location at the St. Lawrence Centre mall.
Ms. Greiner said the mall location likely will stay open until its lease runs out in January. She was excited the companys corporate office had decided to reinvest in Massena with a store at Harte Haven.
We worked really hard at that mall to build up a customer base, she said.
She did not have an exact square footage for the new location, but said the back storage room was larger than the entire retail area the store had at the mall.
Ms. Greiner said she informed her customers of the new location through Facebook and has received a positive response. Several customers browsed through the stores merchandise Thursday afternoon.
The Harte Haven spot is in a more central location than the mall, she said. Locating outside the mall also allows the store to host midnight sales and have more control over its hours, she said.
The new location is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Im happy to have the (Massena) Arena near me because it brings a lot of foot traffic, she said.
With GameStops opening, Harte Haven is fully occupied for the first time in nearly 15 years, according to owner Michael Wachs.
Radio Shack, Rent-A-Center and T.J. Maxx all have moved from the mall to Harte Haven since 2010.
