CLAYTON A man and woman are jailed without bail in Watertown after being charged by state police on Tuesday with the molestation of an 8-year-old girl.
Christopher E. Robinson, 33, and Tracy L. Cantwell, 25, both of 38896 Bartlett Point Road, are charged with first-degree rape and predatory sexual assault upon a child under the age of 11. Robinson is cited separately with first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, and Cantwell is separately cited with first-degree criminal sexual act.
Clayton Town Justice Clarence F. Giles Jr. ordered them held in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to await grand jury action.
Documents filed with the court allege the couple was involved in conduct with the child between February 2011 and this April in the town of Clayton, and cite one specific incident on Dec. 1.
The state police investigation was opened on Feb. 23.
The two were arrested by Watertown police in July 2010, he on a bench warrant for disorderly conduct, and she on a charge of falsely reporting an incident.
They were both convicted of disorderly conduct.
Robinson was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury in 1996, but records in that case were sealed for youthful offender status.
