Margaret Westcott Cayey, 98, passed away Wednesday, July 18 in Huntsville, Alabama.

Born in Malone, New York, she was one of five children born to Mabel Stancliffe and Ralph Earle Westcott. A graduate of Franklin Academy and the Adirondack Commercial School, she was briefly employed by Niagara Mohawk and later by Clarkson University for 19 years. Margaret was a longtime resident of Potsdam and relocated to Huntsville in 1997. She was a member of the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene, the Eastern Star, and Senior Friends of Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jay F. Cayey and her son Steven G. Cayey. She is survived by her son Dr. Neil W. Cayey and wife Jean of Galway, NY; daughter Diane C. Anderson of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter Vicky Ayers of North Carolina; grandsons Sven H. Anderson of Huntsville, AL and Kurt W. Anderson and wife Kendall of Trinity, AL; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
