Starting Monday, the general contractors for the Clinton Street reconstruction will be on site to begin their work.
The project is part of the summers $1.5 million reconstruction. North Country Contractors, Calcium, will begin its work Monday.
Weather permitting, the work from Washington Street to South Massey Street will start at 7 a.m. Monday and is expected to last through September.
The road will be torn up and restored this summer. Two weeks ago, Verizon began sectioning off the street.
The project involves replacing sewers and curbs as well as repaving the street.
Crews will install temporary barricades and signs and have flaggers on site throughout the project, city officials said. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes if possible for the projects duration.
On the other side of Washington Street, the nearly $1 million renovation of the Dulles State Office Building garage is under way until November. The coinciding projects have concerned local businesses such as Watertown Savings Bank.
