Disaster, Agriculture analyst Peter Meyers assessment, written in a research note last Wednesday, after driving through uncharacteristically parched Midwestern farm country the day before. After traveling through Illinois, Mr. Meyer, who works for PIRA Energy Group, told the Wall Street Journal the crop was much smaller than the latest USDA estimate of 12.97 billion bushels: Theres less than 11.5 billion bushels out here. How much less, I dont know.
