GOUVERNEUR — The village has issued a voluntary water advisory asking that residents curb any excessive use of water.

“That’s step one,” Deputy Mayor Ronald P. McDougall said. “Hopefully, it’s the last step.”

Mr. McDougall said showers Monday did not produce much rain, prompting the issuance of the advisory so the water filtration plan can slack off on production.
