MONTREAL — Red and Black running back Harold Taylor ran in a two-yard touchdown with one minute, 34 seconds to play to lift Watertown to a 19-18 Empire Football League victory over the Montreal Voyageurs on Saturday night at John Abbott College.

The Red and Black, which improved to 2-1 on the season, trailed 10-0 after the first quarter, 16-10 at halftime and 16-13 entering the fourth.

Each of Watertown’s two victories have been in come-from-behind fashion.

The Red & Black scored three unanswered touchdowns in the last 11 minutes to beat Monroe County, 24-20, in its season opener on July 14.

Quarterback Shane Slate, starting in place of Brian Williams who was unable to make the game, completed 11 passes, including a touchdown toss to Tremayne Evans in the second quarter.

Alex Tibbles led the defense with 11 tackles and a pair of sacks. Matt Kepler added eight tackles, while Ben Call and Alex Rodriguez provided seven tackles apiece.

Taylor finished with 55 yards on 14 carries, and Joe Brennan carried the ball 12 times for 59 yards.

Zach Grulich, the Red and Black’s bare-footed kicker, connected on field goals of 22 and 38 yards.

Montreal dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Watertown will host the Vermont Ice Storm in its home opener at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds in the first of three straight home games.

The Red and Black will host Monroe County on Aug. 11 and Albany on Aug. 18.
