ELLISBURG A town resident has been charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, following a single-vehicle rollover crash Friday night on Lake Road that reportedly killed a passenger in the vehicle.
Amado Hernandez-Alvarado, 23, also was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle and driving at a speed that was not reasonable or prudent.
According to a report of the crash from the Jefferson County Sheriffs office, the incident took place at about 9:25 p.m. Friday when the 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck Mr. Hernandez-Alvarado was driving went off the north shoulder of the road while travelling west, overturning several times before coming to rest in an adjacent field.
The trucks male passenger was declared dead at the scene, while Mr. Hernandez-Alvarado was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment.
Deputies said the name of the crashs victim would not be released until his family could be identified.
