POTSDAM — A Potsdam restaurant owner whose air conditioning unit was destroyed Saturday is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the vandals.

Owner Thomas M. DeRosa reported that a central air unit installed on a shelf 10 feet above the ground in the alley behind First Crush Bistro, 32 Market St., was pulled down and destroyed sometime early Saturday.

“I’m more than happy to pay a thousand dollars to see somebody arrested,” Mr. DeRosa said. “It’s ridiculous, pointless vandalism.”

Mr. DeRosa said this is the first incident of vandalism over the nine years he has owned the restaurant. Anyone with information can call the Potsdam Police Department at 265-2121.

With temperatures climbing to 89 degrees inside, the restaurant will remain closed for several days until a new unit is installed.
