CLAYTON Mr. and Mrs. Francis R. Gray, 519 John St., are observing their 50th wedding anniversary today.
Mr. Gray, son of Dorothy Gray, Clayton, and the late Donald Gray Sr., and Sally Jo Churchill, daughter of the late Earl Runt Churchill and Melba Rees Churchill Datnell, were married on Aug. 4, 1962, at Clayton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lawrence A. Wheaton officiating. Honor attendants were Donald Bud Gray Jr., Clayton, brother of the groom, and Beth Churchill Marshall, Clayton and Florida, sister of the bride.
Mr. Gray graduated from Clayton Central School, Oswego State University and Potsdam State University, where he received his masters degree. He taught social studies at Thousand Islands Central School, Clayton, where he also coached junior varsity and varsity football. He left teaching after 20 years to run the family business, Grays Wholesale Inc., Clayton. Mr. Gray is a member of the River Community Church, Clayton, and has been a member of the mens golf league, Clayton, for 45 years.
Mrs. Gray graduated from Clayton Central School in 1961 and from the Pauldine School of Beauty Culture, Watertown. She is a hair dresser and maintained a salon in her home for more than 15 years and has worked at Grays Wholesale Inc. for more than 25 years. She is a member of River Community Church and has been a member of the womens golf league, Clayton, for more than 45 years.
The couple has two sons and daughters-in-law, Ross Ty and Linda, Chicago, Ill., and Michael and Shani, Clayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Reisha and Michael Rieder, Saratoga Springs; and six grandchildren.
