AKWESASNE — Mrs. Mary Chubb Leaf, 89, of Snye, Quebec, passed away Saturday Morning, August 4, 2012, at Iakhihsohtha Home for the Elderly in Snye, Quebec, where she had been a patient for the past few years.

Mary was born July 23, 1923 on State Road in Hogansburg, the daughter of the late Louis and Hattie David Chubb. She attended local schools and the convent school.

She worked at Kodak during World War II in Rochester and at a plastic factory in Baltimore, Maryland. Mary returned home to the reservation in the 1980’s and was a homemaker. She loved to play bingo, cards, going for long rides in the car and family gatherings and garage sales.

She is survived by her sons and daughter in Laws, Bruce and Colleen of Akwesasne, and Louie and Amy Leaf of Baltimore, Maryland; 3 grandchildren, Julia and Nathan Coffman, Eric Leaf and Nicholas Leaf; and one great grandson, Samuel Coffman. She is also survived by two sisters, Marcella David of Hogansburg and Ruth D. Cook of Snye, Quebec.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph of 66 years, on January 3, 2011; her stepson, Larry Leaf on March 6, 2012; five sisters, Margaret Porter on June 7, 2007, Louise D. Hart on April 6, 2003, Anna B. Jock on May 25, 1998, Josephine S. Porter on June 3, 1998 and Edith Chubb in 1942; three brothers, Paul Chubb on March 7, 2001, Leo Chubb on September 20, 1988, and Joseph C. Chubb on Novermber 1, 1976.

Friends may call at the Homemakers, Snye, Quebec, Monday starting at 4:00 PM until Wednesday at 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, Celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hogansburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iakhihsohtha Home for the elderly in Snye, Quebec.
