Jerry Eaton, the Jefferson County Republican elections commissioner, was elected Thursday to head the statewide Election Commissioners Association for 2012-2013.
"[M]y first day as President was spent asking the NYS Board of Elections to go to Federal court asking for a delay in a court order mandating changes to our voting machine software in September. If we don't get a delay, it could spell serious problems statewide in the Presidential election," Mr. Eaton said.
Meanwhile, Democrats are set to name Babette Hall, the current deputy Democratic commissioner, as the new commissioner. The vote should go down tonight.
Former commissioner Sean Hennessey stepped down to take a post at the Dulles State Office Building.
