A former Fort Drum soldier with burglary counts pending in Jefferson County Court was sentenced Monday in Herkimer County to 10 years in state prison, according to a report.

Russell C. Marcum, 20, who led local and state police in September on a three-day manhunt that began with the alleged unauthorized use of his parents’ Chevrolet Avalanche at Fort Drum was sentenced after he agreed to a plea deal in July, according to a report on Utica television station WKTV’s website.

Mr. Marcum already is serving concurrent prison sentences imposed in Oswego and Cortland counties for the crime spree that also included Tompkins County.

In Jefferson County, he is charged with breaking into storage lockers and Preferred Power Sports, Route 11.

He awaits grand jury action in Jefferson County on burglary and criminal possession of stolen property charges, although it is expected that any sentence that would be imposed should he be convicted of those crimes would also run concurrently to sentences already imposed in other counties.
