City police allege a man threw an item out of a car early Wednesday morning, hitting and damaging the driver’s door on a passing vehicle in the 500 block of Arsenal Street.

Christopher T. Reutel, 21, of 137 Duffy St., was arrested at his residence on a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief at 2:45 a.m., about a half-hour after the incident. Police did not specify what the item was that damaged the car driven by Shirley M. Smith, Sackets Harbor.
