CAPE VINCENT — State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, will host a “Volunteer Appreciation Day” on Aug. 21 at the town’s Recreation Park, 602 S. James St.

The event, which is free to firefighters, EMS workers, search and rescue, and other first responders, will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.

A spokeswoman for Mrs. Ritchie said that the state senator would pay for the event through her re-election campaign account.
