Watertown- Edward F. Overton, 78, of 113 West Main St. died Saturday evening at his home under the care of his companion Elaine Davis and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Edward was born March 6, 1934 in Lowville, NY son of the late Raymond and FloraBelle (Waldron) Overton. He was educated in Lowville and Watertown Schools. Edward served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954. He married June Abell October 13, 1956 that marriage ended in divorce.
Edward drove truck for Nettie Wholesale, A.E. Galsters and CFM. He also had worked for Bordens Cheese Plant, New York Air Brake and his last job was farmhand which he retired from in 1991.
Edward was a special person who loved to chat and laugh with people. He enjoyed country music, doing a vegetable garden, grilling and collecting eagles.
He is survived by two daughters Joyce (Richard) Flanders, Chaumont, Karen (Anton) Heinricks, Wilson, a son Mark (Lisa) Overton, Seabrook, TX, a daughter in law Kimberly Overton, two brothers Robert (Regina) Overton, Watertown and Virgil (Susan) Overton, LasVegas, NV, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his companion of seventeen years Elaine Davis, Watertown.
He was predeceased by his son Richard Overton, December 16, 2002 and five brother Carlisle, Dorrance, Francis. Alden and Adelbert.
There will be a Graveside Service Saturday August 18, 11am at the Brookside Cemetery, Rev Patty Walz of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. There are no calling hours or funeral per Edwards wishes.
