FORT DRUM — Halfway through their week of preseason practice on post, Syracuse University football players took a break from the gridiron to try some extracurricular Army training.

In a brief session Wednesday morning, offensive players received hands-on experience with the post’s weaponry, while defensive players took on some leadership exercises.

Practices will continue through the week, ending with a scrimmage open to soldiers and their families Saturday.
