David W. Evans, 43, of 155 Francis St., was charged early Friday by Watertown police with second-degree criminal contempt.

He is due to answer in City Court allegations that Thursday evening, he sent 16 text messages to Brenda L. Evans, same address, disobeying stay-away terms of a Family Court order of protection, police said.

He was located by police at his apparent temporary residence, 21601 Floral Drive.
