Josephine A. Knapp, 93, 1010 Washington Street, Watertown, passed away early Wednesday morning at Samaritan Medical Center, where she had been a patient since August 10th. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours, with contributions made in her name to St. Anthonys Church, 850 Arsenal St., Watertown, N.Y. 13601. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc.
Mrs. Knapp was born in Watertown on March 12, 1919, the daughter of Michael L. and Mary Castro Capone. She graduated from Watertown High School and married George A. Knapp on May 12, 1945, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida, with Rev. John S. Harvey officiating. Mr. Knapp died on September 14, 1975. She was a homemaker, and had been a communicant of St. Anthonys Church.
She is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Michael J. and Mary B. Knapp of Watertown, and Thomas A. and Lori A. Knapp of Canandaigua; her 3 sisters, Marianne and Robert Dyer of Watertown, Elizabeth Hampson of Dover, Delaware, and Marlene and Gerald Miller of Cortland,N .Y.; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Capone of MA.; 4 grandsons, Marcus Knapp, Watertown, Jeffrey Knapp, Clinton, N.Y., Andrew Knapp, New Jersey, and David Knapp, Rochester; 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Judith Ann Knapp, who died on Sept. 27, 1968, her brother, Myron Capone, and her 2 sisters, Marguerite Moran and Catherine Capone.
