■ The temperature in Watertown tied the record high of 90 degrees in the 24-hour period that ended at 8 a.m. Sunday, according to the city water filtration plant. The record was set in 1948.

■ LOWVILLE — The Lewis County General Hospital Local Development Corp. will hold an organizational meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday in the second-floor boardroom of the county office building, North State Street.

■ MARTINSBURG — The town Planning Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday to review applications for two proposed home-based businesses: a gun repair shop at 7043 Route 12 and a graphic arts shop at 6657 Route 26.

■ CANTON— The St. Lawrence County Courthouse was evacuated shortly after 10 a.m. Monday after a bag of burned popcorn triggered a smoke alarm.Those inside waited for about 10 minutes on the Court Street sidewalk before being allowed to return to the building.
