CLAYTON A Watertown man was charged by state police Tuesday with the alleged physical abuse of a 10-year-old boy, which included picking the child up by his neck.
Chad A. Bowen, 29, of 240 Coffeen St., Apt. 1, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. He was released without bail by Clayton Town Justice Clifford D. James to await prosecution.
Police said he was residing with Jodi A. Schuster at 36788 Route 12E in the town of Clayton on Aug. 13, when he is accused of hitting, kicking and picking up the boy by the neck. No injuries resulted, police said, and no charges are anticipated against Ms. Schuster.
Police received a complaint the next day about the alleged abuse.
An order of protection was issued Tuesday for all four children in the Schuster household, police said.
