After reconsidering its decision, Watertown City School District Board of Education still will not allow Immaculate Heart senior Samuel F. Purcell take an advanced placement physics course at Watertown high school.
His parents, Maria F. and Mark S. Purcell, live in the South Jefferson School District but own property in the city.
The original decision to deny Samuels request was made during executive session during a board meeting on Aug. 21. Board President Michael R. Flick said there was no vote at the meeting regarding the decision.
The boards view is that if a student is interested in other courses, there are other avenues, such as online and community college courses, said Superintendent Terry N. Fralick in a previous interview. This isnt some kind of decision made against IHC students.
