Arthur nets hat trick, adds assist to power WHS girls soccer

Bri Arthur notched a hat trick and had an assist as the Watertown girls soccer team routed Central Square, 5-0, in the first round of the Watertown Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Kira Kolb and Abby Converse each added goals for the Cyclones (1-0). Katie Aldrich made three saves.

Watertown will face Camden in the tournament final today at 5. Camden defeated Auburn 6-2 in the other first-round game.

LISBON 1, HEUVELTON 0 (OT)

Emily Dishaw scored with 5 minutes, 31 seconds left in overtime to give Lisbon a season-opening win over Heuvelton in a semifinal of the OFA Tournament. It was also an Northern Athletic Conference West Division contest.

Heuvelton outshot the Golden Knights 12-1 in regulation, but Jackie Sovie finished with 16 saves to earn the shutout for Lisbon. Ashlyn Foster made four saves for the Bulldogs.

OFA 0, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 0 (OT)

Erika Chase made nine saves to help the Blue Devils advance to the championship game of their own tournament after defeating Norwood-Norfolk 3-0 in penalty kicks.

Micky Frego stopped 17 shots for the Flyers. Kayla Tolman, Nicole Duprey and Nikki Holmes scored in the shootout for the Blue Devils.

MASSENA 1, INDIAN RIVER 0

Carlie Leary scored from Natalie Pesold in the 53rd minute to lead the Red Raiders past Indian River in a nonleague game at Massena in an opener for both teams. Courtney Manley made four saves for the shutout.

INDIAN RIVER 4, WHITESBORO 2

Sophomores Erick Torres and Junior Malinowski each tallied two goals to propel the Warriors to victory in Watertown’s Cyclone Booster Club Tournament,

Malinowski scored his second goal on a penalty kick to complete the game’s scoring and chipped in with an assist for Indian River (1-0). Goalie Jacob LaClair made 12 saves for the Warriors.

RFA 2, WATERTOWN 0

Jake Pohl scored the game-winning goal in the 15th minute and goalkeeper Spencer Kahler made four saves to record the shutout as the Black Knights (1-0) blanked the host Cyclones in the opening round of the Cyclone Booster Club Tournament.

Mike Jenson added a goal for RFA (1-0). Goalie Noah Taylor made three saves for Watertown (1-0).
