Jeffrey R. Smith, 24, of 936 Summer St., was arrested Saturday night after Watertown police alleged he punched a woman in the face three times while she was holding their 7-month-old daughter.
He is charged with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child. Part-time Watertown City Judge Catherine J. Palermo set bail at $500, placing him in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
Police said his alleged action against Tiffani C. Labarge, same address, who suffered a bruised jaw, violated Family Court and City Court orders of protection.
In another domestic fight on April 21 with Ms. Labarge, he was charged with felony weapon possession, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. Mr. Smith was convicted of attempted grand larceny in Jefferson County Court in 2007.
