GOUVERNEUR – Charles F. Waldruff, Jr., age 87, of Gouverneur, passed away on September 1, 2012 at E.J. Noble Hospital with his family at his side.

Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with lay pastor Judy Sibley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.

Charles was born on March 22, 1925 in Brasher Falls to the late Charles and Fannie (Davis) Waldruff, Sr. He attended Brasher Falls and Stockholm Schools.

Mr. Waldruff served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1951 and served another term from 1951-1952. He married Betty Lou Frary on December 20, 1969 at the Antwerp Methodist Church. A previous marriage to Lila Waldruff ended in divorce.

Charles started out working on his family’s farm, then became a pipe fitter were he worked for Northeast Constructors. He then worked for Brown and Storie which later became B&S. He had worked on the Eisenhower Locks.

Charles was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 73 and the Masonic Lodge #0689. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and woodworking.

In addition to his wife Betty of Gouverneur, Charles is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Stanley C. and Claudia Waldruff of Doylestown, PA, Kevin C. and Deborah Waldruff of Ballston Spa, NY; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Rose M. and Nick Orologio of Norwood, Nanette L. and Gregory Boak of Norwood and Christina D. and Scott Hatch of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Herbert Waldruff and his companion Barbara Bushy of Winthrop; a sister, Vivian Proper of Winthrop; a sister-in-law, Margaret Waldruff; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is predeceased by a son, Darrell L. Waldruff, a brother, James Waldruff, a sister Joyce Zablocki and a grandson, Chase Boak.
