SYRACUSE Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib had a better day than he thought against Northwestern.
Nassib, named the Big East offensive player of the week, set three single-game passing records, and one for total offense, in Saturdays 42-41 home loss to the Wildcats.
Statisticians mistakenly recorded a short throw from Nassib to wideout Marcus Sales as a 12-yard run instead of a forward pass during a third-quarter drive. The change boosts Nassibs totals to 45-of-66 passing for 482 yards, all school records, and increases his total offense to 512 yards, while Sales is credited with 12 catches for 129 yards.
Nassibs 45 completions tie him with former Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm for the Big East Conference record, and his 66 attempts are a league record.
■ On Tuesday, Nassib was one of nine quarterbacks in the nation to be nominated for the Manning Award Star of the Week. The winner is determined by fan voting on the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page. The recipient is announced on Thursday morning.
