Watertown police charged Herbert J. Orendorff II, 35, of 24098 Route 12, Apt. 9, with second-degree criminal contempt at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday at Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library, 229 Washington St.

He is accused of violating a Watertown City Court stay-away order of protection by speaking with Rose M. Taylor, Watertown, at the library that day, police said.

He was held Thursday at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in Watertown City Court.
