CANTON St. Lawrence County has been awarded $49,665 in federal money for emergency food help as a high-need area.
A local board will determine how the money will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by service agencies.
Under the grants terms, agencies chosen must be nonprofit organizations or in government, be eligible to receive federal money, have an accounting system, avoid discrimination, have demonstrated the delivery of emergency food and/or shelter programs and have a voluntary board if they are private.
Interested agencies must contact Timothy Felt, local board chairman, 386-1102, for an application. The deadline for applications is Friday.
