CANTON— A Tupper Lake man accused of possessing more than 1,300 images of child pornography on his computer pleaded guilty to the charge in Albany District Court Thursday.

James L. Tabolt Jr., 39, of 27 Facteau Ave., faces five to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. In addition, he’ll be required to register as a sex offender.

A state police investigator who is part of the New York Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force detected child pornography being made available via a Tupper Lake internet protocol address in December 2010.

The images were matched to a computer at Tabolt’s residence and a search warrant was requested.

State police, Tupper Lake village police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department executed the warrant, seizing Tabolt’s computer in the process.

After a federal search warrant was issued and a forensic examination was conducted, investigators found the images on the computer.

Tabolt will be sentenced in Albany District Court on Jan. 14.
