Harrisville rolls into title game of own tourney

HARRISVILLE — Joey Butts generated three goals and Tim Fowler tallied two goals and drew two assists to lift Harrisville to a 6-0 win over Clifton-Fine in a semifinal game of the Harrisville Tournament on Saturday. It was also a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game.

The tournament was delayed by rain Friday so Harrisville will meet Immaculate Heart Central in the championship game and Clifton-Fine will play Edwards-Knox in the consolation game at a date to be announced.

Chris Graham also scored for Harrisville (2-1).

WATERTOWN 2, CARTHAGE 1

Kenny Schimpf’s unassisted goal in the 24th minute proved to be the game winner as the host Cyclones won a Frontier League “A” Division game.

Brad McKinney scored the game’s first goal for Watertown (4-0, 5-1). Goalie Noah Taylor made six saves to earn the win.

Noah LoConte scored the lone goal for Carthage (2-2) and goalie Sebastian Fountain finished with eight saves.

GENERAL BROWN 4, SANDY CREEK 0

Cole Johnson accounted for two goals in the Lions’ “B” Division victory at Dexter.

Adam Vodicka and Ryan Sheridan also scored for General Brown (2-3).

Sandy Creek/Pulaski is 0-4.

GIRLS SOCCER

GOUVERNEUR 1, COLTON-PIERREPONT 1 (OT)

Rachel Knowlton scored the eventual winning goal in the shootout as the Wildcats (1-0-1) edged the Colts 6-5 to advance to the championship game of the Harrisville Tournament.

Gouverneur will play Parishville-Hopkinton at a date to be announced and Colton-Pierrepont (2-2-1) will meet Harrisville in the consolation game.

Taylor Hentz scored in regulation for Gouverneur and Andrea Aldous scored for the Colts.

Noelle Carbone, Hentz, Cherie Whitton, Kirstin Robert and Haley Easton scored in the shootout for Gouverneur. Colton-Pierrepont’s shootout goals came from Kylie McKinley, Aldous, Haylee Hennessy, Morgan Doyle and Autumn Clark.
