LOWVILLE The village Planning Board has approved plans for a farm equipment and feed store off Ross Road.
The approval was made contingent on North Country Ag LLC, Seneca Falls, installing a hitching post for Amish customers and erecting a free-standing sign at least 20 feet from the street.
North Country Ag is a joint venture of Finger Lakes Dairy Services Inc., a livestock supply and equipment distributor, and Keystone Mills, which sells feed for livestock and pets. It plans to build a 60-by-72-foot store on a 6.6-acre parcel next to Tractor Supply.
The companies have been using the former Lehmans Farm & Home Supply Inc. on Route 26 south of the hamlet of Denmark as a warehouse but not as a retail location.
The board last Monday also approved the proposed addition of a third drive-through lane at the Community Bank N.A. branch in Lowville Plaza.
