Watertown police and caretakers of Arsenal Street Cemetery are looking for a 151-year-old headstone that went missing as early as last November.
Kathy T. Plante-Hunt said she noticed two headstones missing while she was giving Watertown City Manager Sharon A. Addison a tour of the cemetery on Friday.
One was recovered Monday by a Watertown police officer during a search of the cemetery grounds, but officials are looking for another 1861 headstone, belonging to Kitty Ahles, which is about 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 2 inches deep and weighs about 20 pounds.
We have no clues so far, Ms. Plante-Hunt said. I just want the headstone back. No questions asked.
Anybody with information should call her at 788-3306 or Watertown police at 782-2233.
