City police charged Andrew J. Petrousky, 28, of 35854 Route 3, Carthage, with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and several traffic infractions Monday evening.

Police said Mr. Petrousky, who was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Monday on the 1200-block of State Street, possessed 16 Xanax pills and a single Adderall pill. He was also given tickets for driving while ability impaired by drugs, failing to keep right and not wearing a seatbelt. Police noted a breath sample from Mr. Petrousky showed a blood alcohol content of zero.

Taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Mr. Petrousky was processed and released to military custody with an appearance ticket for City Court and three traffic tickets.
