Watertown- Joyce T. March, 82, Jewell Dr., died Monday morning, September 17th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided for about a month.
She was born August 15, 1930 in Evans Mills, NY to Wiley and Pauline (Biche) Tooley. She graduated from Evans Mills High School, attended William Smith College and went on to earn her teaching degree at Potsdam State Teachers College. Mrs. March worked for the Indian River Central School as a third grade teacher, reading specialist and vice principal at the Evans Mills Elementary School retiring in June of 1985 after 32years.
She married Frederick E. March August 27, 1950 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Evans Mills with the Rev.s William H. Cole and Manuel Fowler officiating. Mr. March a retired Physical Education teacher in the Carthage School District, died February 28, 1997.
Mrs. March enjoyed golf, Bingo, playing cards especially Bridge and Cribbage. She was a member of the Alex Bay Womens Golf League. She spent summers at Pt. Vivian on the St. Lawrence and wintered in Largo, FL. Surviving are her son Michael (Wenda) March, Watertown; grandsons Michael (Barbara) March and Frederick (Alexa) March, and a great grandson Brandon, all of Watertown. A brother Kirk (Kitty) Tooley, Northville, NY and several nieces and nephews. A brother Jack Tooley died before her.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday September 20th, 5pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 2pm - 5pm prior to the service.
