LAFARGEVILLE- Ernest J. Amyot, Sr., 66, of Wilder Road died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home.
Born April 14, 1946 in Alexandria Bay, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice St. Pierre Amyot. A graduate of LaFargeville Central School in 1966, he received his Associate Degree in business management from Jefferson Community College.
Mr. Amyot worked as an assistant manager in New York City for three Woolworth stores for three years. Returning to the North Country, he was employed with Crowley Foods, LaFargeville as a machine operator, retiring after twenty five years in 2003.In 1971 Mr. Amyot was the recipient of a kidney transplant at Roswell Park in Buffalo. His brother, Gerald donated his kidney.
He married Linda McFadden of LaFargeville in 1975. The marriage ended in divorce.
Mr. Amyot enjoyed hunting, fishing, planting trees, reading, riding ATVs and playing poker.
Survivors include his mother, Beatrice Crane, Chaumont; two brothers and their wives, Gerald and Kathy, LaFargeville and Raymond and Sheri, Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters and their husbands, Margaret and Tom Bullard, Watertown and Theresa and Terry Ault, Limerick; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son, Ernest, Jr. died in 1995.
The funeral will be 11 am Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating.
