CARTHAGE – Gloria Fleming, 69, 33211 Hall Rd., died Sunday afternoon at her home, under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born on August 20, 1943, the daughter of Benjamin & Reba Atkins West, she graduated from Carthage High School. She married Robert R. Fleming on July 1, 1962 in Carthage. Mr. Fleming died on November 28, 1998. She was primarily a homemaker and was very active in several organizations, including the Champion Ladies Auxiliary, the Champion Grange #18, the Girls Scouts and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage and was the former Jr. Choir Director.
She is survived by her children, Robert T. Fleming, Wanakena, NY, Timothy C. Fleming, Sanborn, NY and Laurel L. Kirch, Carthage, NY. Also surviving are her siblings, George West and Deb Wormwood, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her husband and her brother, Jack West.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Champion.
