GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man accused of defying a stay-away order of protection was arrested by state police at 3:24 p.m. Sunday.

Jeremiah A. Matice, 29, of 72 W. Barney St., was charged with misdemeanor second-degree criminal contempt.

Police said Mr. Matice was found at the home of a woman who has an active order of protection against him. The woman was not identified by police.
