Thousand Islands upends Lyme in FL boys soccer

CLAYTON — Scott McKain accounted for three goals and one assist to lead Thousand Islands past Lyme, 4-2, on Tuesday in a boys soccer crossover game in the Frontier League.

Reed Donnelly pitched in with a goal and an assist for the Vikings (3-2).

Goalie Sam Ada made three saves for Thousand Islands.

Sam Liakhovitch and Timmy Morrow scored for the Indians (3-3).

SACKETS HARBOR 3, SOUTH LEWIS 2

Ryan Allen finished with a goal and an assist as the Patriots earned a crossover victory over the Falcons in Turin.

Josh Keruski and Ethan Dillabough each added a goal for Sackets Harbor (2-2-2). Nick Arrigo and Nate Plescoch each scored for South Lewis (1-6).

BEAVER RIVER 1, LAFARGEVILLE 1

Hunter Nortz assisted on a Tarren Farney goal to help the Beavers (1-2-2) even the score in a crossover game at Beaver Falls.

Hunter Ainsworth scored and Thomas O’Driscoll made 14 saves for LaFargeville (1-3-1).

LOWVILLE 7, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0

Noak Ahlberg scored two goals and assisted on another as the Red Raiders remained undefeated with a crossover victory in Belleville.

Dylan Roes, Wyatt Carpenter and Kody Rosales each added a goal and an assist for Lowville (5-0-1). Hayden Peterson made seven saves for the Panthers (0-6).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 2, GENERAL BROWN 0

Kraig Steele supplied two assists to lead the Spartans to their first win of the year in a “B” Division game against the Lions (2-4) at Dexter.

Luigi Manni and Pearce Parsons scored the goals for South Jefferson (1-4) and William Beese made six saves to get the shutout.

CARTHAGE 7, SANDY CREEK 0

Tyler Biolsi scored three goals to carry the Comets to a crossover victory at Carthage.

Sam Kim had two assists and Denzel Dixon finished with a goal and an assist for Carthage (3-2).

Will Delgado was credited with 27 saves for Sandy Creek (0-5).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

SPARTANS FILL OUT TOP 10

Nick Tyler clocked in at 18 minutes, 11 seconds, leading an all-South Jefferson top 10 in a season-opening Frontier League tri-meet at Sandy Creek’s 3.1-mile course.

The Spartans earned a pair of 15-50 wins over Indian River and Sandy Creek. Indian River defeated Sandy Creek, 27-30.

Seniors Chris Shelmidine and Tyler Deleel placed second and third, respectively, for South Jefferson (2-0).

BEAVERS SWEEP OPENER

Alex Hall crossed the finish lined ahead of 26 others to lead Beaver River to a season-opening victory over South Lewis, 15-46, and Carthage, 17-46, in a tri-meet at Beaver Falls. Carthage defeated South Lewis, 26-29.

Nate Cobb, Dustin Neddo and Troy Purcell finished second, third and fifth, respectively, for Beaver River.

Nick Anderson finished fourth for Carthage, while Sam Benzing was seventh for South Lewis.

WATERTOWN 25, A-P-W 34

James Lamson finished second to lead three Cyclones in the top five in their interdivision win over the Rebels at Watertown High School.

Sam Maphey and Austin Myers joined Lamson in the top five for Watertown (1-0).

Zach Mosher finished in 17:36 — a good 1:18 ahead of the rest of the field for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (0-1).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

SPARTANS SWEEP TRI-MEET

Skylar Pastor paced the field with a 20:12 race to lead South Jefferson to a pair of Frontier League wins in a season-opening tri-meet at Sandy Creek’s 3.1-mile course. The Spartans beat Sandy Creek, 15-49, and Indian River, 17-46. The Warriors defeated the Comets, 24-31.

Pastor was joined by teammates Jackie Miller and Elanor Brooks in the top three for South Jefferson (2-0).

CAMPANIAN LEADS FALCONS

Victoria Campanian earned the individual victory by more than a minute to lead South Lewis to wins over Beaver River, 25-30, and Carthage, 21-34, in a season-opening tri-meet at Beaver Falls.

Beaver River defeated Carthage 21-35.

Christina Platt and Sierra Corbett were second and fifth, respectively, for South Lewis.

Victoria Rollin finished third and Reganne Smith was fourth for the Beavers.

A-P-W 26, WATERTOWN 29

Chelsea Cooper’s 20:48 run helped the Rebels earn a season-opening interdivision win over the host Cyclones (0-1).

Cooper placed second overall for A-P-W (1-0), but led all affiliated runners. IHC senior Gabby Thompson finished the race first in 19:22.

GIRLS SWIMMING

SOUTH JEFFERSON 106, CARTHAGE 80

Jensen Beale and Hannah Markey each won two races and swam on two first-place relays to help lead the Spartans to an “A” Division victory at Adams. Beale took the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, while Markey captured the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Megan Scully claimed the 100 breaststroke and contributed to a pair of relay wins for South Jefferson (2-1).

Claire Sauter captured the 200 free and 100 butterfly for Carthage (1-2).

WATERTOWN 97, INDIAN RIVER 70

Julia Marilley, Bree Jefferds and Brittney Thesier each won a race and swam on two first-place relays as the Cyclones earned an “A” Division victory at Philadelphia.

Marilley claimed the 100 breast, Jefferds the 100 free and Thesier the 50 free.

Samantha Favret took the 100 back and contributed to a relay win for Watertown (3-1, 3-0). Rachael Rodriquez (100 fly) and Natalie Wicks (diving) won events for Indian River (0-3).

BEAVER RIVER 52, LOWVILLE 42

Keegan Bowman and Heather Bush each captured two events and contributed to a pair of first-place relays to lead the Beavers to a “B” Division victory over the Red Raiders at Beaver Falls.

Bowman won the 200 IM and 100 fly, and Bush took the 50 and 100 frees.

Bethany Prashaw claimed the 500 free and swam on two winning relays for Beaver River (2-2, 1-2). Kelsey McLean (200 free) was among the winners for Lowville (0-3).
