A retirement party for Lt. Michael S. Peterson of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Savory Downtown, 300 Washington St.

Lt. Peterson joined the department in August 1987 and has commanded its road patrol and detective division since June 2003. His retirement is effective Friday.

The party will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by live music. Attire is casual. Tickets are $20 per person and can be obtained by calling Sandy Belden at 786-2660 by Friday.
