MASSENA — A Quebec man was charged by state police Thursday with having drugs when he tried to cross the border at the Massena checkpoint.

Mitchell R. Nanticoke, 25, Snye, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and with not having a driver’s license.

Mr. Nanticoke had 11 narcotic pills, troopers said.

He was arraigned in Town Court and posted $500 bail.
