Canton rallies to tie Malone

CANTON — Canton scored two goals in the final six minutes to tie Malone 2-2 in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division boys soccer game Friday.

Tanner Sanderson connected on a penalty kick in the 75th minute and Frances Palumbo scored in the 76th minute from Matt Mende to tie the game for Canton (5-1-2 overall, 3-0-2 division).

Aaron Shawlow and Dustin Hart scored goals in the first half for the Huskies (4-1-1, 2-1-1).

OFA 2, POTSDAM 1 (OT)

Gian Rufa scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime on a penalty kick, to lead OFA (3-2, 2-1) in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Chris Stone scored the only goal for Potsdam (2-2-1, 1-2-1) in the 56th minute.

MASSENA 7, GOUVERNEUR 1

The Wildcats (0-4-1) struck first but Massena answered with seven straight goals to claim a Central Division win in Gouverneur.

Dylan Stone and Evan Kassian each scored two goals for Massena (2-0-3, 1-0-3).

Dalton Mullin, Robert Cameron and David Phillips also scored for the Red Raiders.

Matt Waugh scored for Gouverneur.

LISBON 3, HERMON-DEKALB 1

Tristan Vine, Cody James and Adam Kelley scored goals as the Golden Knights (3-0) knocked off the Demons in a West Division contest in DeKalb Junction.

Macaulay Snell scored the only goal for the Demons (1-4, 1-3).

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 3, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 1

Parishville-Hopkinton overcame a one-goal deficit to knock off Norwood-Norfolk (1-3) in an East Division game in Norwood.

Ian St. Andrews scored in the 10th minute for Norwood-Norfolk.

Wyatt Snell connected back-to-back in the 34th and in the 50th minute to give the Panthers (4-0, 3-0) a 2-1 lead.

Bryan Snyder added a goal in the 65th minute.

ST. LAWRENCE 5, ST. REGIS FALLS 0

Tyler Savage made nine saves to lead the Larries past the Saints (1-3) in an East Division game in Brasher Falls.

Ian Lynch supplied one goal and one assist for the Larries (1-4, 1-3).

Luke Arquiett, Kody Kocsis, Josh White and Nate McLaughlin also scored for the Larries.

CHATEAUGAY 3,

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 0

Zach Cowan scored the first two goals of the game as Chateaugay shut out Brushton-Moira (2-2, 2-1) in an East Division game in Chateaugay.

Seth Young also scored for the Bulldogs (1-3).

GIRLS SOCCER

MASSENA 3, GOUVERNEUR 0

Three second-half goals lifted the Red Raiders past the Wildcats (1-2-2, 1-2-1) in a Central Division game in Massena.

Dominique Valancius and Mia Jermano scored unassisted goals for Massena (6-0, 4-0), and Marissa Manley ended the scoring in the final minute off an assist from Valancius.

Courtney Manley made four saves for the shutout.

OFA 3, POTSDAM 2

Natalie Gilgio scored on a corner kick in the 67th minute to lift the Blue Devils (2-1-3, 1-1-1) past the Sandstoners in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Kaitlin Sheppard and Alicia Shaver also scored goals for OFA.

Kalie Grant scored two goals for Potsdam (3-2-1, 1-2) just 33 seconds apart in the second half.

CANTON 1, MALONE 0

Kali Frank scored off a pass from Katie Lapinski in the 48th minute as the Golden Bears edged the Huskies (1-3-1, 0-2-1) in a Central Division game in Malone.

Hilary Wilcox made five saves for Canton (2-2, 2-1) to record the shutout.

HEUVELTON 5, MORRISTOWN 0

Hannah Thornhill generated two goals and one assist in the first half and Abby Basford connected for a pair of second-half goals as the Bulldogs defeated the Green Rockets (0-4) in a West Division contest in Heuvelton.

Alexis Weidner also scored for the Bulldogs (5-1, 4-1) and Ashlyn Foster stopped three saves for the shutout.

HARRISVILLE 4, CLIFTON-FINE 0

Samantha Rounds stopped five shots as the Pirates blanked the Eagles (0-4) in a West Division game in Star Lake.

Lauryn Smith, Emory Matott, Janel Swanson and Kathleen Coloney scored for the Pirates (3-2, 3-1).

SALMON RIVER 9, ST. REGIS FALLS 0

Salmon River struck for five goals in the first half and cruised to a win over the Saints (0-5) in a nonleague game in Fort Covington.

Emily Trombley scored three goals and Abby Kelly produced two goals and two assists to lead Salmon River (1-1-1).

Kelby Mitchell scored two goals and Melanie Taylor, Vanna Thompson also scored for Salmon River.

Sam Ghostlaw stopped two shots in the shutout.

VOLLEYBALL

Salmon River 3, Massena 0

Jackie Benedict scored 16 service points and added nine aces to lead Salmon River to a 10-25, 25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17 win over Massena (5-1) in a Northern Athletic Conference match at Fort Covington.

Nicole Smoke added 10 points for the Shamrocks (5-1) and Kasennakohe David had 16 kills.

Paige English and Shelby Yanulavich each scored 14 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-11, 25-5, 25-8 sweep of the Panthers (0-5) in Brushton.

Caitlin Miller provided 18 kills for the Bulldogs (6-0).

MALONE 3, TUPPER LAKE 0

Brooke Johnson scored 11 points as Malone gained a 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 sweep of Tupper Lake (0-5) in Tupper Lake.

Brooke Peck and Whitney Legacy each scored 10 points for Malone (5-1).

GIRLS SWIMMING

OFA 116, MALONE 53

Cynthia Buscemi and Julia Morrow each won two events to lead the Blue Devils (2-1) past Malone in an NAC meet in Ogdensburg.

Buscemi won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 freestyle and Morrow claimed wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Emily Kemp led the Huskies (1-2) with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

MASSENA 67, SALMON RIVER 17

Baylee Carroll and Emily Hurlbut each won two events as the Red Raiders defeated the Shamrocks (0-4) in Massena.

Carroll won the 50 and 100 freestyles for Massena (3-0) and Hurlbut added wins in the 200 and 500 freestyles.

POTSDAM 120, GOUVERNEUR 44

Shanielle Chambers won the 50-meter freestyle and swam on two winning relays as the Sandstoners defeated the Wildcats (0-3) at Clarkson.

Chambers swam on the winning 200 medley and freestyle relays for Potsdam (1-2).
